# How to duplicate a shift

**For:** Manager
**You'll need:** A shift on the calendar.

Hold **'Alt'** (**'Option'** on macOS) while dragging a shift to drop a copy at the new location instead of moving the original.

## Alt-drag the shift

1. Hold **'Alt'** (**'Option'** on macOS).
2. Click and hold the shift block.
3. Drag to the destination time or day — a copy hint appears while dragging.
4. Release the mouse.

A new shift is created at the drop location with the same position, location, area, duration, and assignments. The original shift stays where it was.

## Verify it worked

You now see two shift blocks: the original at its original time and a copy at the drop location.
