# The calendar is empty

**For:** Manager | Shift worker
**You'll need:** Nothing.

You opened **Planning → Calendar** and it's blank — no shifts, no blocks, just an empty grid. Almost always a filter, the wrong location, or a date range with nothing in it.

## Check five possibilities

1. **Filters are hiding everything.** Open the **'Filter'** panel in the left sidebar and look at every filter. If **'Status'** is set to **'Published'** only and you have only DRAFT shifts, the calendar will be empty. Click **'Clear all filters'**.
2. **You're scoped to the wrong location.** If your **'Location'** filter is set to a site with no shifts in this range, the calendar is blank. Switch the location or clear the filter.
3. **The date range has no shifts.** Calendar views only show what's inside the visible range. Use the toolbar arrows to jump to a week you know has shifts; use the **'Today'** button to snap back.
4. **No shifts have been created yet.** A brand-new company has an empty schedule. Create one with the **'Add new shift'** button (top-right), or apply a schedule template.
5. **Your view mode is wrong for what you're looking at.** Roster views (e.g. **'Roster week timeline'**) only render people you have access to. If you have no people in scope, the roster is empty. Switch to **'Month grid'** or **'Week timeline'** to see shifts independent of people.
