# The payroll cycle looks off

**For:** Admin
**You'll need:** Nothing.

The payroll summary covers the wrong dates, the **'This cycle'** chip points at a week you didn't expect, or the bi-weekly cadence flipped. All three are anchor-and-frequency problems in your company settings.

## Check three possibilities

1. **The payroll frequency is wrong.** {{ app_name }} supports **'Weekly'**, **'Biweekly'**, and **'Monthly'**. If the report cuts on a Sunday but you pay every other Friday, the frequency is wrong. Open **Settings → Company settings → Payroll** and check the frequency. See {doc}`/settings-and-admin/company-settings/payroll`.
2. **The biweekly anchor date is wrong.** Biweekly cycles need an anchor — an arbitrary "week 1" Monday from which {{ app_name }} counts every other week. If the anchor is one week off, every cycle is one week off. Fix the anchor and the **'This'** vs **'Last'** chips on the payroll summary will realign.
3. **You're reading 'Last' instead of 'This'.** The payroll summary shows two chips: **'This cycle'** (the open one) and **'Last cycle'** (the previous, closed one). It's easy to compare numbers across the wrong chip. Confirm which cycle you're reading at the top of the report.
