# How to read the eligibility badges

**For:** Manager
**You'll need:** Nothing.

Each candidate in the assignment dropdown shows badges that tell you whether assigning them is safe, risky, or blocked.

## Badge types

Blocking error (red)
: The assignment is rejected if you save with this person. Common causes: a required skill is missing, the person is not in the MLP pool, the person is already on another shift at the same time.

Warning (amber)
: The assignment is allowed but you should know about a conflict. Common causes: an availability block, a labor-law breach (rest-break or rest-period rule), an overtime threshold.

No badge
: No conflicts detected — the candidate is fully qualified, available, and within the rules.

## Where badges show up

- In the **'Person'** dropdown of the assignment form.
- In the quick-assign dropdown on a shift block — see {doc}`/plan-schedules/shift-calendar/quick-assign-from-a-shift-block`.
- In the **'Eligible people'** panel on the shift edit page.
- In the hover tooltip of an assigned shift — see {doc}`/plan-schedules/shift-calendar/read-the-shift-tooltip`.
