# How to change the calendar view

**For:** Manager
**You'll need:** Nothing.

The calendar offers thirteen view modes — month, week, day, list, and roster variants. Switch any time from the toolbar; your choice is auto-saved per user.

## Switch the view

1. Open **Planning → Calendar**.
2. In the toolbar, open the view dropdown (next to the date navigator).
3. Choose a view from the list below.

## The thirteen view modes

Block views show shifts as time-positioned rectangles; list views show them as table rows; roster views group shifts into one row per person.

Month grid view
: Full month — every shift sits in its day cell. Best for overview planning.

Week timeline view
: Hour-by-hour grid for one week. Best for fine-grained time editing.

Week blocks view
: Week with full-day shift blocks (no hours axis). Best for headcount-style planning.

Day timeline view
: Hour-by-hour grid for one day. Best for tight intra-day planning.

Day blocks view
: One day with block layout instead of hour rows.

Month list view
: Every shift in the month as a sortable list.

Week list view
: Every shift in the week as a list.

Day list view
: Every shift on the day as a list.

Roster day timeline
: One day, one row per person, hourly grid.

Roster day blocks
: One day, one row per person, block layout.

Roster week timeline
: One week, one row per person, hourly grid.

Roster week blocks
: One week, one row per person, block layout.

Roster month
: Whole month, one row per person.

## Verify it worked

The calendar redraws in the chosen view, and the view name appears in the dropdown. The next time you open the page, the same view loads.
