# Create a budget

**For:** Manager | Admin
**You'll need:** At least one company period — see {doc}`/set-up-your-company/company-periods/create-a-company-period`.

You'll create a budget for one period, optionally scoped to a single location.

## Open the form

1. Go to **Company → Budgets** in the left sidebar.
2. Click **'Add new budget'** in the top-right.

## Fill in the form

1. Open the **'Period'** dropdown and pick the period the budget covers.
2. (Optional) Pick a **'Location'** to scope the budget to one location. Leave it empty for a company-wide budget.
3. Enter the **'Labor budget'** — the maximum planned labor spend.
4. Enter the **'Revenue target'**.
5. (Optional) Add **'Notes'**.
6. Click **'Save'**.

## Verify it worked

The new budget appears at **Company → Budgets**.
