# How to edit a shift

**For:** Manager
**You'll need:** A non-recurring shift.

Change any field on a shift — time, position, location, area, headcount, notes, or assignments.

## Open the shift

::::{tab-set}
:sync-group: platform

:::{tab-item} Web
:sync: web

1. From the {doc}`/plan-schedules/shift-list/index`, click the row.
2. Or, from the calendar, click the shift block.
:::

:::{tab-item} Mobile app
:sync: mobile

1. Tap **Shifts** in the bottom bar (or the team icon in the top bar for **Team schedule**, if the shift isn't yours).
2. Tap the shift to open its detail.
3. Tap **Edit** in the top bar. The action is manager-only — shift workers get the read-only detail with **Accept** / **Decline**.

## Make changes

::::{tab-set}
:sync-group: platform

:::{tab-item} Web
:sync: web

1. Update any field.
2. Click **'Save'**.
:::

:::{tab-item} Mobile app
:sync: mobile

1. Tap **Start**, **End**, **Location**, **Area**, or **Position** to change a value, or type into **Notes**.
2. Tap **Save** in the top bar (**Done** on iOS).

Changing the location or position can drop assignments that no longer fit; when it does, the app asks you to confirm before saving. Min and max headcount aren't editable on mobile.

```{note}
For recurring shifts, saving opens a scope chooser asking whether to apply the change to **'This'**, **'Following'**, or **'All'** occurrences (in the mobile app: **This occurrence only**, **This and following**, **Entire series**). See {doc}`/plan-schedules/shifts/recurring/edit-a-recurring-shift`.
```

## Verify it worked

A success toast confirms the change. The shift on the calendar and in the list shows the new values.
