My time entry won’t submit#
For: Manager | Shift worker You’ll need: Nothing.
You hit ‚Submit‘ on a time entry and Shiftavo refused — either with a banner saying the row is locked, a validation error about missing clock times, or a permission error. Each has a different fix.
Check four possibilities#
The period is locked. If the company period covering this entry has been closed, or the entry has already been approved, Shiftavo shows a „locked“ banner on the row and refuses to submit. The entry can only be edited or submitted after a manager unapproves it or an admin reopens the period. See What a locked period looks like on the timesheet.
Clock-in or clock-out is missing. Submit needs both times. Shiftavo will fall back to the scheduled times if the clock times are blank, but if the schedule itself has gaps (no start, no end), the row can’t submit. Open the entry, fill in ‚Clock in‘ and ‚Clock out‘, and try again.
You don’t have permission to submit this row. Workers can submit their own entries; only managers can submit on behalf of someone else. If you’re seeing a „you don’t have permission“ message or the ‚Submit‘ button is disabled, ask your manager.
The shift behind the entry has been deleted or moved. If the underlying shift was changed in a way that breaks the link, the entry can be in an inconsistent state. Ask your manager to recreate it.
