How to set the sick-leave defaults#

For: Admin You’ll need: Owner or Admin role.

You’ll set how sick days are counted at the company level and edit the default sick-leave tier ladder that new employment types inherit.

Open the company settings#

  1. Open the account dropdown (top-right) and click ‚Settings‘.

  2. In the right column, find the ‚Sick leave defaults‘ section.

Choose the counting mode#

  1. Open the ‚Sick day counting mode‘ dropdown.

  2. Choose how a sick day is counted (for example ‚Calendar days‘ or ‚Working days‘).

Choose calendar vs rolling#

  1. Toggle ‚Calendar period‘ if entitlements should reset at a fixed boundary (matching How to set the leave period type), or leave it off for a rolling window from each spell.

Edit the default tier ladder#

The tier ladder defines how many sick days are paid at each service-year threshold. Click the ‚Edit tiers‘ link to open the default sick-leave policy and add, edit, or remove tiers.

Save#

Click ‚Save‘.

Verify it worked#

Approve a sick leave request for an employee and check that the paid duration matches the tier their service years land in.
