How to offer a shift for swap#
For: Shift worker You’ll need: A published shift assigned to you, far enough in the future that your company’s swap rules still allow it. Swaps must be turned on for your company.
Can’t work a shift you’ve been given? Offer it on the swap marketplace. Other eligible colleagues see it and can pick it up — either as a straight hand-off or as a trade for one of their own shifts.
Choose the swap type#
Your company decides which types are allowed:
Give away — someone else takes your shift and you get nothing back. Use this when you just need cover.
1:1 swap — a colleague takes your shift and you take one of theirs in return.
Offer the shift#
Open the shift from your schedule or shifts list.
Click ‘Offer for swap’.
Pick the type (give-away or 1:1 swap), if both are available.
(Optional) Add a note for colleagues — why you need cover, or what you’re after in a trade.
Click ‘Offer for swap’ to publish.
Note
If you don’t see the ‘Offer for swap’ button, the shift may be too close to its start time, already locked, or swaps may be off for your company. See Troubleshooting.
What happens#
The offer goes live on the marketplace with status ‘Open’.
Every colleague who is qualified to work the shift (right position, right location, and — if your company requires it — the right skills) gets an email that the shift is available.
The offer stays open until someone is approved, you withdraw it, or it reaches its auto-reject deadline shortly before the shift starts.
Verify it worked#
The shift now shows an open-offer badge, and the offer appears under the ‘My offers’ tab of the swap marketplace.
