Deactivate a person

Deactivate a person#

For: Manager | Admin You’ll need: Permission to edit people — Owner and Admin have it — and an active person inside your data scope whose role doesn’t rank above yours.

You’ll set someone’s membership to ‘Inactive’ so they can’t sign in or be assigned to new shifts. Their history stays for reporting.

Deactivate the person#

  1. In the sidebar, go to Company → People.

  2. Open the person.

  3. Switch the ‘Status’ toggle off.

  4. In the ‘Deactivate person?’ dialog, confirm.

  1. Tap More in the bottom bar.

  2. Tap ‘Manager’, then ‘People’.

  3. Tap the person’s row.

  4. Tap ‘Deactivate’. It only shows if your role may also remove people from the company.

  5. Pick the status you want: ‘Inactive’ (no scheduling) or ‘Suspended’ (no login).

The Owner can’t be deactivated, on any surface: ‘The owner must remain active.’ Nor can someone whose role ranks above yours — the web app refuses the change (‘You cannot change a member with more authority.’), and the mobile People list doesn’t show them at all.

Verify it worked#

The person’s status shows as ‘Inactive’ in the people list. You can still see their record and reassign them later — see Reactivate a person.

If a status change or removal fails to save, it does not deactivate the person’s sign-in.
