How to add a kiosk device#

For: Owner / Admin You’ll need: The physical tablet you want to pair, and the location (and optionally the area) it will live at.

You’ll create a new kiosk entry in Shiftavo. The act of creating it provisions a dedicated tablet login — an email + password — that you’ll use exactly once to sign in the tablet itself.

Create the device#

  1. In the left sidebar, go to Planning → Kiosks.

  2. Click ‘Add kiosk’.

  3. Fill in:

    • ‘Device name’ — a label only you see (“Bar tablet”, “Reception iPad”).

    • ‘Location’ — which location’s staff will use this tablet.

    • ‘Area’ — optional; pick one to narrow the employee picker further.

  4. Click ‘Save’.

Copy the credentials#

The success page shows the tablet’s email and password. Both are needed to sign in the tablet itself.

Warning

The password is shown exactly once. Copy it now into your password manager. If you navigate away, the only way to recover access is to rotate the password — see How to rotate or replace a kiosk device.

You don’t need to write the email anywhere else — it’s also visible in the device list and you can re-open it any time. The password is the part that disappears.

Verify it worked#

The new device shows in the Kiosks list. The ‘Last seen’ column is empty until the tablet signs in for the first time and starts sending heartbeats.
