How to add a kiosk device#

For: Manager | Admin You’ll need: The physical tablet you want to pair, and the location (and optionally the area) it will live at.

You’ll create a new kiosk entry in Shiftavo. The act of creating it provisions a dedicated tablet login — an email + password — that you’ll use exactly once to sign in the tablet itself.

Create the device#

  1. In the sidebar, go to Planning → Management → Kiosk.

  2. Click ‘Create’ (on an empty list, the button reads ‘Create kiosk device’).

  3. Fill in:

    • ‘Device name’ — a label only you see (“Bar tablet”, “Reception iPad”).

    • ‘Location’ — which location’s staff will use this tablet.

    • ‘Area’ — optional; pick one to narrow the employee picker further.

    • ‘Language’ — the language the tablet shows to everyone who punches there. It starts as your own language.

  4. Click ‘Save’.

If the form says “Couldn’t reach the identity service to create the tablet’s sign-in. Try again in a moment.” or “Identity service refused to create the tablet’s sign-in. Try again or contact support.”, no device was created — click ‘Save’ again, and contact support if the refusal repeats.

Copy the credentials#

The success page shows the tablet’s email and password. Both are needed to sign in the tablet itself.

Warning

The password is shown exactly once. Copy it now into your password manager. If you navigate away, the only way to recover access is to rotate the password — see How to rotate or replace a kiosk device.

You don’t need to write the email anywhere else — it’s also visible in the device list and you can re-open it any time. The password is the part that disappears.

The tablet shows dates and times in the format of its location’s country. To change its language later, open the device from the list, choose another ‘Language’ and click ‘Save’ — the tablet doesn’t need to be signed in again.

Verify it worked#

The new device shows in the ‘Kiosk devices’ list. The ‘Last seen’ column shows a dash until the tablet signs in for the first time and starts sending heartbeats.
