Why “My availability” hides your available times: Mode A

Why “My availability” hides your available times: Mode A#

For: Shift worker You’ll need: Nothing.

If your account is set up as always available (Mode A), both the ‘Available’ and the ‘Preferred’ section are hidden, and an info banner titled ‘Always available is active’ explains why.

What Mode A means#

In Mode A, your manager doesn’t need a recurring availability pattern from you — you’re treated as available whenever you haven’t said otherwise. Your approved leave and any ‘Unavailable’ block still count: for that time you’re unavailable like anyone else. Your manager sees it when planning, and automatic assignment and the shift marketplace leave you out.

What you can still do#

  • Add a one-time ‘Unavailable’ block for a day off the books.

  • File a leave request for vacation, sick, or other formal time off.

Switching modes#

You can switch to Mode B yourself: open the account menu (top-right), click ‘Settings’, and tick ‘Set my availability’ in the ‘Availability’ section — see Personal settings. Your manager can also change it on your person page.

Verify it worked#

Open Planning → Availability → My availability. In Mode A the ‘Overview’ tab shows the ‘Always available is active’ banner and only the ‘Unavailable’ section; once ‘Set my availability’ is on, the ‘Available’ and ‘Preferred’ sections come back.
