How to resize a shift

How to resize a shift#

For: Manager You’ll need: A shift on a timeline view.

Drag the edge of a shift block to extend or shrink it.

Drag the edge#

  1. Hover over the top or bottom edge of a shift block — the cursor changes to a resize handle.

  2. Click, hold, and drag to the new end (or start) time.

  3. Release the mouse.

The shift’s duration updates; the opposite edge stays fixed.

Verify it worked#

The shift block grows or shrinks to the new length, and a toast confirms the change.

Tip

Holding ‘Alt’ (‘Option’ on macOS) during a resize on a multi-assignment shift splits one person off into a separate shift — see How to split a shift.
