Delete skills#

For: Admin You’ll need: Skills no longer needed.

You’ll remove one or many skills at once. A skill can only be deleted while nobody holds it and no position requires it.

Delete one skill#

  1. In the sidebar, go to Company → Skills.

  2. Open the skill.

  3. Click ‘Delete’.

  4. In the ‘Delete item?’ dialog, click ‘Delete item’.

Delete many at once#

  1. On the skills list, tick the checkbox at the start of each row you want to remove — or open the ▾ menu in the selection column header and choose ‘Select this page’, or ‘Select all pages’ to take every skill the current filter matches, on every page.

  2. Click ‘Delete selected’ below the table.

  3. In the ‘Delete item?’ dialog, click ‘Delete item’.

Ticks carry over when you move to another page of the list. If anyone holds a selected skill or a position requires it — one that ‘Select all pages’ brought in included — nothing is deleted, and the app says how many people or positions still use it.

Verify it worked#

The skill (or skills) no longer appear at Company → Skills.

When you can’t delete#

Warning

You can’t delete a skill while anyone holds it or a position requires it. The app says “Can’t delete — this skill is assigned to N people or positions. Remove the assignments first.” Remove it from those people and positions, then try again — see Remove a skill from a person and Remove a required skill.
