Notifications#

For: Manager | Shift worker | Admin You’ll need: Nothing.

This page covers the messages Shiftavo sends you that you can’t switch off, and the in-app feedback that isn’t a notification at all. To choose what you’re notified about and how often, see How to manage your notifications — that’s where the notification bell, the per-category email cadence, mobile push, and shift reminders live.

What gets emailed regardless#

Three emails are transactional — they’re part of signing in or being added to a company, so there’s no setting for them:

  • Invitation emails — sent when a manager adds you to a company. See Add a person.

  • Email confirmation — sent when you sign up or add a new email address to your account. See How to verify your email.

  • Password reset — sent when you request a password reset.

Everything else that reaches your inbox is a notification, and you control it — see How to manage your notifications.

In-app toasts#

Toasts are the small messages that slide in at the top of the screen after you do something — saving a shift, publishing the schedule, deleting a person. They report what just happened in front of you; they are not notifications and never reach your inbox or the bell.

  • Ordinary toasts auto-dismiss after 3.5 seconds.

  • Error and warning toasts stay until you close them.

  • Hover a toast to pause its timer; move away and it resumes.

  • At most 10 toasts show at once. When more arrive, the oldest dismissable ones are dropped first — errors and warnings are never evicted.

There’s nothing to configure.

The ‘Send invitation’ toggle#

When you add a person under Company → People, the form has a ‘Send invitation’ checkbox. Tick it and Shiftavo emails them an invitation link on save. Leave it off to add the person quietly and invite them later.

This is a web-only control — the mobile app’s add-person form always creates the person without sending an invitation.

See Add a person for the full flow.

Verify it worked#

After an action, look for a toast at the top of the screen. After you tick ‘Send invitation’ and save, the recipient receives an email within a minute or two.
