How to quick-assign a person from a shift block#

For: Manager You’ll need: A shift on the calendar and at least one person eligible for its position and location.

The ‘+’ button on a shift block opens a dropdown of the people who could take the shift — assign or unassign without opening the edit form.

Open the person dropdown#

  1. On the shift block, click the ‘+’ button (next to the assigned-person list). The ‘Compact’ person display has no ‘+’ button — switch to ‘Avatar’ or ‘Name list’ first.

The dropdown lists the people who hold the shift’s position at its location, minus anyone a blocking rule rules out — for example a missing required skill or an unavailability.

Quick-assign a person#

  1. Click a name in the dropdown — the person is assigned immediately.

Quick-unassign a person#

  1. Click an already-checked name to remove that assignment.

Read the warnings#

A person with a warning shows a warning icon and the first message, with (+N) when there are more — hover the message for the full list. You can still assign past a warning.

On a published shift, a person you remove is notified, and so is a person you add, unless the shift has already ended: they’re asked to accept it if your company requires shift acceptance and the shift hasn’t started, and otherwise told they were added.

Verify it worked#

The shift block updates to show the new assignment list.
