How to duplicate a shift

How to duplicate a shift#

For: Manager You’ll need: A shift on the calendar.

Drag a shift and hold ‘Alt’ (‘Option’ on macOS) before you release to drop a copy at the new location instead of moving the original.

Drag, then hold Alt#

  1. Click and hold the shift block, and start dragging. Don’t hold ‘Alt’ yet — holding it before the drag starts begins a multi-select instead.

  2. Drag to the destination time or day.

  3. Hold ‘Alt’ (‘Option’ on macOS) and release the mouse.

Nothing on screen marks the drag as a copy — the copy is detected at drop time. A new draft shift is created at the drop location with the same position, location, area, duration, and assignments — or, if a matching shift already sits there, the people are added to it. The original shift stays where it was.

Verify it worked#

You now see two shift blocks: the original at its original time and a copy at the drop location.

A matching shift at another location is never used as the destination. An approved destination refuses the copy; a published destination notifies only newly added people. All-day copies keep the selected dates in every timezone, and the end must be after the start.
