Track time

Track time#

Once a shift is in the past, it becomes a row on the timesheet. From there the hours are confirmed (recorded and signed off as correct) and then approved for payroll. Depending on your company’s mode, the employee confirms their own hours first, a manager does both, or Shiftavo records and approves the hours on its own — see How confirmation and approval work.

The timesheet is the centre of this category. Breaks are governed by break rules (configured elsewhere), and day-by-day attendance — late arrivals, missed clock-outs, no-shows — lives in the Attendance report.

Staff can clock in from their own phones, or from a shared tablet at each location if they don’t sign into Shiftavo on personal devices — see Kiosk. You decide which of the two is allowed, company-wide and per location, in How to choose where your team can clock in. And when someone forgets to clock out, Shiftavo asks them first and only closes the entry itself as a last resort — see What happens when someone forgets to clock out.

Note

The timesheet is primarily a manager surface, and managers see every finished shift in their locations. Shift workers see only their own finished shifts there, where they can confirm their hours but not approve. Most workers confirm without opening it at all — clocking out at the kiosk is their confirmation.
