How to set the payroll frequency#
For: Admin You’ll need: A role that covers the whole company and may edit company settings — Owner and Admin can.
You’ll tell Shiftavo how often you run payroll. The setting drives how payroll periods are sliced in reports and exports.
Open the company settings#
Open the account menu (top-right) and click ‘Settings’.
In the right column, find the ‘Payroll’ section.
Choose the frequency#
Open the ‘Payroll frequency’ dropdown.
Choose:
‘Weekly’ — one period per week.
‘Bi-weekly’ — one period per two weeks.
‘Monthly’ — one period per calendar month.
(Bi-weekly only) Set the anchor date#
If you chose ‘Bi-weekly’, an extra field appears.
In the ‘Payroll anchor date’ field, pick any date inside one of your bi-weekly periods.
Shiftavo uses this as the reference point and walks forward and back in 14-day steps.
Save#
Click ‘Save’.
Worked example#
You pay every other Friday and the open cycle began Monday 2 March. Set ‘Payroll frequency’ to ‘Bi-weekly’ and ‘Payroll anchor date’ to 2 March — the cycles run 2–15 March, 16–29 March, and so on. An anchor of 9 March would shift every cycle by a week.
Verify it worked#
Open Payroll summary. Periods should align with your chosen frequency (and, for bi-weekly, with your anchor date).
