Add a manual holiday#
For: Admin You’ll need: At least one location.
You’ll add a holiday that isn’t part of the statutory list — a company-specific closure, a regional observance, or anything Shiftavo didn’t seed automatically.
Open the form#
In the sidebar, go to Company → Holidays.
Click ‘Create’ in the top-right. (On an empty list the button reads ‘Create holiday’.)
Fill in the form#
Pick a ‘Date’.
Enter a ‘Name’.
In the ‘Locations’ dropdown, pick the locations the holiday applies to. Leave it empty and the holiday applies to all locations, company-wide.
(Optional) Set a ‘Multiplier override’ if pay for this holiday differs from the default — leave it blank to use the work policy’s public-holiday multiplier.
(Optional) Tick ‘Half-day’ if the closure is only a half-day.
Click ‘Save’.
The new row is tagged ‘Manual’ so it isn’t overwritten by future auto-seeding.
A worked example#
Say the work policy’s holiday multiplier is 1.5× and Ahmed works 8 h at CHF 20.00/h on 1 August. With ‘Multiplier override’ blank, the day pays 8 × 20 × 1.5 = CHF 240. Set the override to 2.00 and it pays CHF 320 — other holidays still pay 1.5×. Tick ‘Half-day’ and only the hours after the cutoff (usually 12:00 local time) earn the premium: a 09:00 – 12:00 shift pays CHF 60 flat, while 12:00 – 17:00 pays 5 × 20 × 1.5 = CHF 150. The ‘Locations’ scope works the same way: leave it empty and the holiday is company-wide; pick Zürich only and Basel works a normal day.
Verify it worked#
The holiday appears at Company → Holidays with a ‘Manual’ badge.
