How to undo an assignment run#
For: Manager You’ll need: A finished run you want to reverse.
A run writes ordinary draft assignments, so you could unpick them by hand. You don’t have to: one button reverses everything a run did.
Undo it#
Open the run page — from the generation flow, or from the link you landed on when the run finished.
Click ‘Undo assignment’.
Read the dialog and confirm.
Every assignment the run added is removed, and everything it removed comes back — except what has changed since the run: an assignment someone has accepted, declined, clocked in to or offered on the marketplace, one that was edited, and any change on a shift that is over, cancelled or has approved hours. Those are left alone and counted in the confirmation. The run is then marked ‘Undone’, with the time it was reversed.
When the team has already seen it#
If any shift the run changed is published by now — because the run reached into published shifts, or because you published since — the dialog says so before you confirm. Reversing those is visible to the people who were on them — they lose a shift that was on their phone. Undo published work deliberately, not reflexively.
Inside the generation flow#
If you got here through Shift generation, the same action is on the wizard’s assignment step as ‘Back: Undo assignment’ — it steps you back to ‘Shifts created’ rather than out of the flow, so you can undo the shifts too if you want. See How to undo generated shifts.
After undoing#
Nothing stops you running again. Adjust availability, add the missing skill, or change how far the run may reach, and generate a fresh plan — see How to assign people automatically.
Undo also keeps an assignment if a manager has since changed its employee. A run can only be undone once, even when two people submit the action from pages opened earlier.
Verify it worked#
The run page carries the ‘Undone’ badge, and the calendar for that range is back to what it was before the run.
