How to sign in with two-factor authentication#

For: Manager | Shift worker | Admin You’ll need: Your password and your authenticator app.

Once two-factor authentication is on, signing in takes one extra step. This works the same whether you’re signing in on the web or through the mobile app — the app hands you to your device’s browser for sign-in, so you see the same screens.

  1. Enter your email and password as usual, and click ‘Sign in’.

  2. On the ‘Two-factor authentication’ screen, open your authenticator app and read the six-digit code for Shiftavo.

  3. Type it into the ‘Code’ field and click ‘Sign in’.

Codes change every 30 seconds. If yours is rejected, wait for the next one and try again rather than retyping the same digits.

Tip

No authenticator app to hand? Enter one of your recovery codes in the same field instead. See How to manage your recovery codes.

Skip the code on a browser you use daily#

Right after a correct code, Shiftavo asks ‘Trust this browser?’.

  • Click ‘Trust for 2 weeks’ and you won’t be asked for a code the next time you sign in from this browser.

  • Click “Don’t trust” on a shared or borrowed computer — you’ll be asked for a code every time.

The decision belongs to that one browser on that one device. Trusting your office laptop doesn’t trust your phone, and clearing your browser’s cookies undoes it.

Verify it worked#

You land on your usual screen — the schedule on the web, the Shifts tab in the app — and your email shows in the account menu.
