My time entry won’t confirm

My time entry won’t confirm#

For: Manager | Shift worker You’ll need: Nothing.

You hit ‘Confirm’ on a time entry and Shiftavo refused — with a banner saying the row is locked, a “nothing to confirm” message, or a permission error. Each has a different fix.

Check four possibilities#

  1. The row is locked. If the entry has already been approved, Shiftavo shows a “locked” banner and refuses to confirm. The entry can only be changed after a manager unapproves it. See What a locked row looks like on the timesheet.

  2. There’s nothing to confirm. Confirm records the worked hours, falling back to the scheduled times when nothing was clocked. If the underlying shift has no scheduled start or end, there’s nothing to fall back to — open the entry, fill in ‘Clock in’ and ‘Clock out’, and try again.

  3. You don’t have permission for this row. Workers can confirm their own entries; a manager can confirm any entry in their locations (including on someone’s behalf). If you see a permission message or the ‘Confirm’ button is missing, ask your manager.

  4. The shift behind the entry was deleted or moved. If the underlying shift was changed in a way that breaks the link, the entry can be in an inconsistent state. Ask your manager to recreate it.

Note

Manager waiting to approve? In dual-approval mode the ‘Approve’ button stays disabled — showing ‘Awaiting confirmation’ — until the employee confirms their hours. Either wait for the employee, or confirm on their behalf from the row’s ‘⋯’ menu. See How confirmation and approval work.

Tap More in the bottom bar, then Timesheets, then tap the row. ‘Confirm hours’ lives in the sheet that opens. If it isn’t there:

  1. The row is already approved. An approved row has no chevron and doesn’t open a sheet at all — there’s nothing to tap. It can only be changed after a manager undoes the approval. See What a locked row looks like on the timesheet.

  2. You’re offline. Confirming is a server write, so the app hides the action and shows “You’re offline. Connect to submit.” at the top of the list and in the sheet. Reconnect and try again.

  3. Your company approves hours automatically. The sheet says ‘Hours are recorded and approved automatically.’ and offers no confirm — the server records and approves for you, so there is nothing for you to do. ‘Undo confirmation’ stays available if you need it.

  4. The recorded times are wrong or missing. Use ‘Correct times’ in the same sheet to set the clock-in and clock-out, then confirm. A row with a red warning triangle was clocked out automatically — the system guessed the end time and won’t let it be approved until you check it.

Note

Manager waiting to approve? Go to More → Manager → Timesheets. A row that the employee hasn’t confirmed yet offers only ‘Confirm hours on behalf’‘Approve’ appears once the row is confirmed. Either wait for the employee, or confirm on their behalf from that sheet. See How confirmation and approval work.

If a row you expect isn’t listed at all, check the filter icon in the top bar — the Status filter can be set to hide Scheduled, Confirmed or Approved rows.
