Break rules#
A break rule says what one break asks: for how much working time it is owed, how long it is, whether it’s paid, when it must happen, and whether the person can leave the workplace or has to stay available. Rules live in break policies, and a work policy picks the break policy that applies to the people it governs.
A rule exists once in your company and can belong to several break policies — the Swiss ladder serves the adults’ and the “Youth” policy as the same rules, so a change is one edit. Use working-time floors and ceilings for tiers, and separate meal and rest kinds when both are required. A rule with a stretch limit works differently: no more than so many hours of work in a row without a break.
