How to publish or unpublish a single shift#
For: Manager You’ll need: A shift — see How to add a shift.
The publish page flips whole date ranges at once (How to publish shifts up to a cutoff), but you can also publish or retract one shift from its edit page — for the late fix that shouldn’t wait for the next bulk publish.
On a recurring shift, these buttons act on the whole series: every occurrence at a location you have access to. Occurrences that can’t take the change are skipped, and the rest go ahead.
Publish one draft shift#
Open the shift from the calendar or the planning list.
Click ‘Publish’ in the top row.
No confirmation dialog — publishing is a routine forward step. Assigned workers see the shift on their schedule, and if your company uses shift acceptance, they’re asked to accept it. Shifts in a schedule template have no ‘Publish’ button — templates are never published.
Unpublish — retract it to draft#
Works while the shift hasn’t started and no time entry has been approved on it.
Open the shift and click ‘Unpublish’.
In the ‘Unpublish this shift or recurring series?’ dialog, click ‘Unpublish’.
The team no longer sees it and it returns to draft. Everyone assigned is notified, and their accept or decline answers go back to ‘Pending’. Any live marketplace offer on the shift is withdrawn.
Note
Once a shift has started or its hours are approved, ‘Unpublish’ disappears — the moment for a quiet retraction has passed. Cancel it instead: How to cancel a shift.
Verify it worked#
The status badge on the shift row reads ‘Published’ (or ‘Draft’ again after an unpublish). With shift acceptance on, a published shift with people on it shows their answers instead — see How to read the shift status badge.
