How to mark an exception day#
For: Manager | Admin You’ll need: A plan that includes demand forecasting — Plus or Pro.
Some days lie. A refurbishment week, a street festival outside your door, a one-off promotion — if the forecast learns from those days as if they were normal, it will keep expecting them. A marker tells Shiftavo how to treat a date range for one location.
Create a marker#
Go to Planning → Demand → Markers.
Click ‘Create’.
Give it a ‘Name’ you’ll recognize later, for example Kitchen refit or Street festival.
Pick the ‘Location’ it applies to.
Set ‘Start date’ and ‘End date’. The end date is inclusive — the marker covers that day too.
Choose what it does — see below.
Click ‘Save’.
The two things a marker can do#
‘Exclude from history’ — those days are dropped from what the forecast learns. Use it for days that weren’t representative: a closure, a power cut, a building site out front, a one-off promotion.
‘Uplift %’ — raises or lowers the forecast for those days by that percentage, for example
40for a promotion you expect to lift covers by 40%, or-40for a quiet stretch. It changes the forecast for days still ahead; recorded history stays as it was.
The two work independently, so one marker can do both.
Tip
Mark the day as soon as you know about it, not after. A marker’s ‘Uplift %’ on a future date changes that day’s forecast — that is how a planned event reaches next month’s staffing. Once the day has passed, ‘Exclude from history’ keeps it from teaching the forecast.
Verify it worked#
