How to respond to a marketplace offer#
For: Shift worker You’ll need: A live offer on the shift marketplace that you’re eligible to take.
Found a shift you want? Send a response — that’s what an application is called here. For an open shift or a give-away you just say yes; for a 1:1 swap you also offer one of your own shifts in return.
Respond#
Open Planning → ‘Shift marketplace’ and click the offer.
Click ‘Apply’.
For a 1:1 swap, choose the shift you’ll give in return from the ‘Offered shift’ dropdown. The list only contains your own upcoming shifts that the colleague is qualified to take.
(Optional) Add a note for the person and the manager.
Click ‘Save’ to submit.
Tap More → ‘Shift marketplace’ and, on the ‘Overview’ segment, tap the offer.
Tap the action in the top-right: ‘Claim shift’ for an open shift or a give-away, ‘Offer a swap’ for a 1:1 swap.
For a 1:1 swap, tap ‘Return shift (1:1 swap)’ and pick the shift you’ll give back from the ‘Pick a shift to offer’ sheet. It only lists your own upcoming shifts that can be traded for this one.
(Optional) Add a note for the person and the manager.
Tap ‘Claim shift’ / ‘Respond’ in the top-right to submit.
A give-away shows ‘Give away (no return)’ in place of the return-shift row — there’s nothing to pick. Responding needs a connection; offline the submit button is greyed out.
What happens#
What happens next depends on the offer and your company’s rules:
An open shift in ‘First come’ claim mode — you get the shift immediately.
An open shift in ‘Manager picks’ mode — responses collect and a manager decides. If the offer has several ‘Spots’, more than one person can be picked.
A give-away or swap that needs approval — the offer moves to ‘Pending approval’ and a manager is notified. Nothing changes on the schedule until they decide.
A give-away or swap that doesn’t — it’s awarded straight away and the shift moves to you (and your return shift moves to the other person, for a 1:1 swap).
The person who posted the offer is notified that you responded. If several people respond, only one is picked per spot — everyone else’s response reads ‘Not selected’ and they’re told.
Note
You can respond to more than one offer. You can withdraw a response any time before it’s awarded — see How to withdraw an offer or response.
Verify it worked#
The offer page shows your response with status ‘Pending’ — or the shift lands on your schedule immediately, if no decision was needed. Your responses are all listed under the ‘My responses’ view (the ‘My responses’ segment on mobile). When a decision is made, you’re notified.
