My punch in the app wasn’t recorded#
For: Shift worker You’ll need: The mobile app.
You tapped ‘Clock in’, ‘Clock out’, ‘Start break’, or ‘End break’ on the ‘Time clock’ card in the Shifts tab, and the punch didn’t go through — or a separate card now reads “Not recorded: …”. Here’s what the card is telling you, and how to get your hours right.
Check what the card says#
“Saved on this device — syncs when you’re back online” or “Saved — syncing…” — nothing is wrong. The punch is stored on your phone with the time you tapped, and the app sends it once it reaches Shiftavo again.
“Your break is saved but needs to say which one it was.” — tap ‘Choose’ and pick the kind of break. The punch keeps the time you tapped.
“Not recorded: …” on a card of its own — Shiftavo refused the punch for good; the reason follows the colon. The app never sends a refused punch again, and it holds back the later punches for the same shift, which read “Not recorded: An earlier punch for this shift was refused, so this one wasn’t sent.” Punches for your other shifts keep syncing.
Common reasons after “Not recorded:”:
“This timesheet is locked and cannot be changed.” — a manager has already approved your hours for this shift.
“Use the kiosk to punch for this shift.” — punching from a phone is switched off for this shift.
“It’s too early to clock in for this shift.” — clock-in hadn’t opened yet.
“The server refused the punch.” or “Couldn’t record the punch.” — no more specific reason was given.
Put your hours right#
On the ‘Not recorded’ card, tap ‘Timesheets’ to open your own timesheet.
Tap the shift, then ‘Correct times’, and enter the times you actually worked — you’ll be asked why they need changing. This needs a connection. If the row is locked, ask your manager to fix it instead.
Back on Shifts, tap ‘Discard this punch’ on each ‘Not recorded’ card for that shift. Discarding only removes the card from your phone — it records nothing.
Verify it worked#
The ‘Not recorded’ cards are gone, and the shift on your ‘Timesheets’ list shows the right times.
