How to undo generated shifts#
For: Manager You’ll need: A generation run you want to reverse.
Both halves of the flow are reversible, one step at a time. You can undo the assignments without losing the shifts, or undo the shifts as well.
Undo the assignments only#
On the ‘People assigned’ step:
Click ‘Back: Undo assignment’.
Confirm in the dialog.
Everything the assignment run wrote is reversed, except what has changed since the run: an assignment someone has accepted, declined, clocked in to or offered on the marketplace, one that was edited, and any change on a shift that is over, cancelled or has approved hours. Those are left alone and counted in the confirmation. The generated shifts stay, empty, ready to be staffed by hand or by another run.
Warning
If you’ve published any of those shifts since, the dialog says so before you confirm. Reversing those is visible to the people who were on them.
Undo the shifts too#
On the ‘Shifts created’ step:
Click ‘Back: Undo create shifts’.
Confirm ‘Undo shift skeletons’ in the dialog.
The draft shifts this run created are removed, and any drafts it replaced come back. Automatic assignments on those drafts are removed with them. Any actual manager edit permanently protects a generated shift, including a quick edit, an assignment change, or publishing and returning it to draft. Shifts with approved or clocked-in hours, cancelled shifts, and marketplace offers also stay and are counted. Saving unchanged values does not protect a shift.
If you’ve generated that week for the same location again since, undo the newer generation first. Until then the older one is refused with “A newer generation overlaps this week. Undo the newer generation first.”
After you’ve left the flow#
An assignment run can still be reversed from its own run page — open it and click ‘Back: Undo assignment’, which also takes you back to ‘Shifts created’, where you can undo the shifts too. Without the run page, undoing the shifts themselves means deleting them like any other draft shift; see How to bulk-delete shifts.
Each generation can be undone only once. Repeating the action from an older page does not restore replaced drafts a second time.
Verify it worked#
The step you undid shows as reversed, and the shift calendar for that week matches what was there before the run.
