How to reset a role’s permissions#
For: Admin You’ll need: A plan that includes custom roles — Plus or Pro — permission to change roles, and a role your company added itself.
You’ll put a role’s permissions back to the set of the role it was based on. Use it when a role has drifted over time and you’d rather start again from a clean copy than untick your way back.
Reset#
In the sidebar, go to Company → Roles.
Open the role.
Click ‘Reset to default’ at the top of the page.
In the dialog, confirm with ‘Reset permissions’.
Warning
Everything you changed on this role is lost. It goes back to the permissions the base role grants today — not to the set it had when you first created it. Any added editable permission is limited by what you may grant.
The role’s name, description and data scope are untouched. Only the permission ticks change.
What isn’t reset this way#
A built-in role has no ‘Reset to default’ button, and the action is refused if you reach for it another way. It doesn’t need one: Shiftavo re-applies the built-in permission set with every release, so a built-in role is already always at its default.
Verify it worked#
A confirmation appears. Check the permission sections against the base role and your own allowed permissions.
The reset restores only the base role’s editable permissions that you may grant yourself. It cannot give a role permissions you do not hold. The confirmation states this limit.
